Ped Issue

Post from Blog Visitor "A.P.":
I walk downtown often - there are several intersections that would be so much easier to navigate with some push buttons for light changes and some signals. I'm including a pic of the intersections.

Curb Cuts and Intersections

Post from Blogvisitor "Zig":
It has been nice to see that some of the curbs on many intersections along Main St and Pine St have been redone and been made wheelchair accessible. We do a fair amount of walking and biking with our family in Converse Heights and beyond. The most difficult part of our trips from Converse Heights to the library or the rail trail is trying to cross Pine St at Kennedy St or Henry St. Neither of those two intersections have pedestrian signals. One weekends, when there is not much cross traffic from Henry or Kennedy, it is very tricky to cross Pine St, because the light will not change unless a car wants to cross Pine St.

parking lot gravel and dirt

Post from Blogvisitor "SARA N":
I've found Magnolia Street to be a pretty bike-friendly place to ride and it's a good connector - a good alternative to Church STreet. But this one section always has gravel and sand overflowing from a business parking lot. It makes the conditions for biking a LOT worse - and for no good reason, as far as I can tell. Does anyone know if there's a regulation against a business that doesn't maintain their lot like this? I'm not sure why they are allowed to have a gravel lot in downtown Spartanburg at all...

Crosswalk Trouble

Post from Blogvisitor "john_mcp":
I work the southside of E. Main street. Often I walk to the PO box on the corner of Oakland and Main. Crossing Main at the painted crosswalk is problematic to say the least. Not only do you have to navigate 4 lanes of traffic – but there are cars coming out of two BB@T exits, Chestnut street, and Oakland Ave. There must be a better way to cross.

Great addition to a problem intersection.

Post from Blogvisitor "CM":
I travel on Mills Avenue almost daily. For years the 3 way intersection with Boyd has been very scary. I really like the new intersection. The three way stop works really well. I also like the solar powered stop signs. The lights make them very visible and easy to use.
